Encapsulating a combination of indigenous wisdom and philanthropic concern, noble ideals and sense of commitment, the Society emerged on the scene not only riding on a wave of educational upsurge but also swimming against the currents of linguistic oppression and stifling official apathy.
With indomitable spirit and courage of conviction a few eminent patriots living in erstwhile Nizam’s dominion of Hyderabad, brought into being a new educational concept of imparting instruction through mother tongue, half a century before such an idea became the official credo. Pandit Sripad Damodar Satwalekar, Dharmaveer Waman Naik, Justice Keshav Rao Koratkar and others pooled their endeavors together and decided to establish “Vivek Vardhini Educational society” on 25th October 1907.
